In case of an Emergency:
Dial 911
The Flora Police Department, in conjunction with the Clay County Sheriff's Office, started
a Shop with a Cop program in 2005. Both agencies work together throughout the year in
various fund raising projects. These projects are done in order to raise money to take
local at risk youth Christmas shopping. When officers take the children shopping, the
children are outfitted form head to toe, including a new coat, hat, gloves, and boots or
shoes. The children are also purchased a new outfit. Then the children are able to pick a
special Christmas gift for themselves, usually their favorite toy, video game or DVD.

Since 2005, officers from the Flora Police Department have been able to help more than
125 children. These children attend, and are selected by Administration and staff from
the Flora Unit #35 School District. Clay County Sheriff's deputies have taken a similar
number of children shopping. These children come from the Clay City and Louisville
School Districts.  Both departments combined to take all the children shopping in
December prior to Christmas at our local Wal-Mart Supercenter.

The Flora Police Department has raised more than $15,000 in various fund raising
events since the program's inception in 2005. Some of these events include a basketball
game which pits local law enforcement personnel against Clay County Firefighters.
Officers also participate in an annual golf scramble and softball tournament. The
department has also sponsored a demolition derby.
