From January 29th through February 14th, the Flora
Police Department participated in the Illinois
Department of Transportation’s Holiday Mobilization
Plus Program, which coincided with the recent
Super Bowl.  Funds were provided to the City of
Flora by IDOT’s Division of Traffic Safety, which
administers the funds from the Federal
Government.  This is part of the ongoing campaign
of “You Drink and Drive, You Lose”.

Extra emphasis was given to the last night hours,
where statistics show there are more impaired
drivers and seat belt usage is at its lowest.  This is
part of a nationwide effort to save lives by removing
impaired and other unsafe drivers from the
roadway.

Chief Nicholson advised that this most recent
campaign resulted in:

46 total traffic tickets issued, of which 4 were for
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol; 11 for
Operation of Uninsured Vehicles; as well as 5
unlicensed drivers.  There were also 10 fugitives
apprehended, and 16 misdemeanor criminal arrests
made.
