July 9, 2010 Chief John Nicholson releases the following information: Wednesday, July 7th at 12:20 p.m. the department investigated an accident on the Huck’s Parking lot involving a 2005 Buick Rendezvous operated by Debora J. Shock, 42, of Noble and a 1995 Jeep Cherokee operated by Donna K. Buffington, 30, of Flora. No injuries were reported.

Wednesday, July 7th at 8:19 p.m. Nina M. Sebring, 28, of Flora was arrested for Violation of Order of Protection following an incident in the 200 block of W. Washington. Sebring was also arrested on a Clay County Warrant for Failure to Appear on original charge of Battery and a Wayne County Warrant for Failure to Appear on original charge of DUI. Sebring was transported to Clay County Jail.

Wednesday, July 7th at 9:32 p.m. Steven M. Wathan, 32, of Flora was arrested on a Clay County Warrant for Failure to Appear on original charge of Domestic Battery. Wathan posted cash bond and was released with a court date.

Thursday, July 8th at 6:50 a.m. the department investigated an accident at Austin and Vincennes involving a 1991 Oldsmobile operated by Preston L. Bonham, 18, of Louisville and a parked 2003 International truck owned by Sanitation Services Inc. of Effingham. No injuries were reported.

Thursday, July 8th at 9:30 a.m. Dean J. Kerner, 57, of Flora was arrested for Disorderly Conduct following an incident in the 900 block of N. State. Kerner posted cash bond and was released.

All persons are merely accused of the charges against them and are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

The Flora Police Department and the Clay County Sheriff’s Department are hosting a Shop with a Cop Wooden Bat Softball Tournament on Saturday, August 21st and Sunday, August 22nd and Friday, August 20th, if needed. Entry Fee is $250 per team. Wooden bats will be provided. The games will be played at the Flora ball diamonds. All rostered players will receive a tournament t-shirt with entry. Food and drink will also be sold. Entry forms can be picked up at the Flora Police
